The Early Days

Us

Steve Dillon, owner and manager of Aussie Flicks Video Productions Pty Ltd has been a video producer since 1981.

Sarah, Steve's wife, first became involved in the industry in 1987. She found herself going to weddings almost every weekend - not as a guest, but as Steve's offsider. Not the most usual way to date. Following her marriage to Steve and the birth of their two beautiful children, Sarah's role in the business is more an administrative role and keeping Steve's mind focused on constantly improving his artistic skills.

And as for the kids? Probably a bit early yet, but their willingness to listen and learn, who knows, one day they could be going to weddings every weekend too!

AVPA

Steve's involvement with the AVPA (Australian Video Producers Association)

In 1996 Steve joined the AVPA. It was obvious that the association would not only benefit Aussie Flicks, but clients as well.

The AVPA is the only national video body in Australia

In 1997, Steve was elected to the position of NSW Vice President, which he held for a number of years. Other posts followed culminating in his election as NSW President in 2003. Steve sees his role as an educator. For too long anyone could buy a camera on a Friday and shoot a wedding on the Saturday and call themselves a professional. Part of the AVPA's charter is to raise the standards of video production in Australia. To do this, the AVPA can offer accreditation to members. This involves the examination of a producer's work by industry experts to see if their work is of a high enough standard to achieve AVPA accreditation.

Steve is accredited in both Special Event and Corporate video productions.
